Autumn Term

Maths

This term in maths we will be exploring numbers in a variety of ways. With numbers 0-10 the children will be able to:

  • Compare numbers using one-to-one correspondence.
  • Understand that numbers can be seen as the same as, smaller than or greater than a set of objects.
  • Understand that a sequence of objects and numbers can form a pattern.
  • Develop an understanding of number bonds.
  • Learn different ways to add and subtract numbers within 10.
  • Explore shapes and pattern.
  • Develop an understanding of ordinal numbers.

Literacy and Topic

Our topic for the first half term is 'All About Me' and the children will be exploring their five senses and bodies through exciting activities. The children will have the opportunities to write a booklet on the human body and read fun texts such as 'Dr Xargle's Book of Earhtlets' and 'Here Comes the Aliens'.

After Half Term our topic will be 'Toys' and the children will have the opportunity to bring in their favourite toy from home and share their toy with the class. We will be reading and learning about a lost and found story, linked with 'Dogger'.
