Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

In Year 6 we have two classes.

Mr Champion teaches 6C and Mr Robinson teaches 6R.

Throughout the year, the classes will also be taught by Mr Waddington, Mrs Bolland, Mrs Lock and Mrs Goodheart. Our wonderful teaching assistants are Mrs Newman and Ms Jenner.

We have a super term planned for the summer.  We will start by continuing our literacy topic, focusing on War House and life in the trenches.

Alongside this we will be continuing our preparation for the Nation Curriculum Assessments (SATS). Please continue to support your child with the homework set each week.

The highlight of the term will be our 5 day residential to Devon.  This trip will give the children the chance to experience a number of different activities designed to develop their confidence and skills, both as individuals and as part of a team.

The children’s PE lessons are on Monday and Wednesday. However, we ask that the children have their kits in school all week. Please help us by labelling every piece of clothing your child brings to school.

It is of course vital that you hear your child read as often as possible. We ask the children to get at least three signatures in their reading diaries a week.

We hope the children really enjoy Year 6 and please book an appointment to talk to your child’s teacher if you have any concerns.
